Microsoft Fix It Uninstall
I still have issues trying to uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials. To try to make this easy to read I will break this up into 2 parts. Part 1: Things I have tried, Part 2: Issues I am having. Part 1 things I have tried: 1. Microsoftfixit 50535.msi 2. I have tried microsoft fix it. Program Install/Uninstall.RNP . It did detect Microsoft Security Client and I did uninstall it. It didn't detect Microsoft Antimalware. 3. mseremoval.bat. It seem to run with no issues 4. Alternate solution #1. I didn't find MSE in registry HKey-Local-Machine. I opened cmd.exe and typed CD C:program filesmicrosoft security clientbackupx86. It gave me an error message 'System can not find the path specified Part 2 Issues I am having: I still see things in this computer that look like there might be fragments of MSE on this computer. 1. If I click Start/ All Programs. I still see MSE 2. Windows security Center still reports Antivirus out of date, also when you open WSC it reads 'Windows found multiple antivirus programs on this computer, but they all report out of date or are turned off. I have only had 2 virus programs on this computer, MSE and Malwarebytes Free. Malwarebytes free has no real time protection, I probably have had more than one version of MSE. I have had problems with this before and had to uninstall/reinstall to fix the problem. 3. When I open explorer C:Drive I see MSE in Program Files. I also see Microsoft Security Client in the Application Data folder. The folder appears to be empty. Part 3 Surprise Part: Can this be more complicated? I try to find a removal tool and find multiple versions. Some have no clear documentation on what version they are good for or what can happen if you use the wrong version. If you try to get help from Microsoft Support Community you get you get link to a hard to read article with multiple solutions that lead to more KB articles and solutions. After some time is taken to read all this out of desperation you just start trying them all and end up back at support with more questions. I don't mean to complain but this problem cry's out for a solution. I am not a computer guy but maybe a suggestion. Make a removal tool that will detect all version of MSE and remove them. Thanks Mike D
